Christmas Crafters’ Sale
At the Sparta Community Hall on Saturday November 28 from 9:00 to 4:00.
Come and do your Christmas shopping from vendors that have all hand made articles for sale. The Community Society will also have a booth with articles made by the Stitchers and stocking stuffers for Christmas. There will be a bake sale as well as lunches for sale. This is a great way to help your community. Special thanks to Yvonne Taylor and family for all the work of putting this together every year.
Fun Fair
The 3rd Annual Sparta Family Fun Fair took place on Sunday, Aug 23 at the Sparta Community Center. Although the weather was a bit iffy, those in attendance enjoyed games, a dunk tank, dog show and yummy food!

We hope to begin construction at the beginning of the year. Special thanks to Matt and Carly Higgens for all their hard work making this project happen. If you want more information contact Matt Higgens at spartacommunityskatepark@gmail,com.
Sparta South Cemetery
Next year we will need someone to mow the lawns at the Cemetery on Quaker Road. We are offering $240.00 per cutting and trimming, with the person providing their own equipment. Please contact Sally Martyn at tcg@execulink.com or 519-775-2292 if you are interested in the job.
Sparta’s Historical Re-Enactment Dinner
The dinner will be held on November 14th at the Sparta Church Museum featuring food and entertainment from 1875. The dinner includes wine with the meal and costs $70 per person. See any member of the Historical Society for tickets or email tcg@execulink.com.
Scouting News
Scouts, Cubs and Beavers are up and running and very full in the Beaver and Cub sections. We have 16 Beavers and can’t take in more unless they can find another Beaver leader. If you have time to help with the young ones, we need you. The groups will be canvasing the village for non-perishable food that is not stale dated on December 2 door to door. The food goes to ChristmasCare. Call Pam Helmer (519-775-2613) for more information on ages, activities and joining.
Web Site & Social Media
Francie Johnston has helped us set up a more interactive web site at villageofsparta.com with forms for renting and contracts as well as ads for all upcoming events and a calendar of all events in the village. It also shows when the community hall is already in use. Steven Thorne has also set up an email contact on the site (villageofsparta.ontario@gmail.com) and a Facebook and Instagram site at communityofsparta. Check them out.
Hall Rental
We have great spaces to rent for any gathering you are hosting. We have re-established our stage in the upper hall, have two certified kitchens, air conditioning and a fully accessible lower entrance and washrooms. See the end of the newsletter to book the hall and costs. PAL insurance is needed if alcohol is served. The Sparta Church Museum lower hall is also available for rent at the same rates as the community hall upper room. Rental agreements are on the village website or use the link below.
Thank You
Special thanks to Rick Curtis for once again looking after the mowing at our Community Hall lawn. He has been doing it for years and we so much appreciate his help. Also to Pam Helmer for all her work on the Fun Fair. It wouldn’t be possible without her dedication as well as the Community Society without all her leadership and the Scouting group who are so dependent on her. Thank you Pam.
